For many people in the Midwest, the winter months are brutally cold, and I wouldn’t blame you for a minute if you choose to stay indoors all winter long. However, if you love the outdoors as much as I do, than maybe a horse drawn sleigh ride is just the thing you need to beat the winter blues! Jester Park Equestrian Center is the go to place for horseback riding in Iowa, and the Equestrian Center is a wonderful place to visit anytime of year. However, during the winter months the center transforms into a winter wonderland!
The winter holiday rides will be either a sleigh ride or wagon ride depending on weather conditions. The sleigh requires a minimum of 4-6″ of packed snow to operate.
Rides will be available every half hour from 10am-11:30am and 1pm-3:30pm from early December through Mid-February. The sleigh can accommodate up to 7 adults. Children are welcome and small children may sit on an adult’s lap if needed for space.
Trail rides last between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on the trails condition. All sleigh rides take place in the beautiful winding hills of Jester Park in Granger Iowa.
Reservations are required and this event has been known to sell out, so make your plans early. If there is no snow on the ground, you can still enjoy a horse drawn wagon ride! Reservations can be made by clicking here.
