Rushmore Cave is the original attraction at Rush Mountain Adventure Park.  Adventure seekers have been exploring the cave for over 90 years, and continue to be amazed by the variety of formations and the awe inspiring BIG ROOM.  Cavers continue to seek out new passages and are discovering new areas within the cave still today.  Rush Mountain Adventure Park is located 5 miles East of Keystone on Hwy 40. Rushmore Cave is currently offering two incredible tours! The first is a Scenic Walking Tour, while the second tour is considered a wild tour and is a spelunking delight. This tour is known as Xpedition Adventure Tour and offers a glimpse into sections of the cave very few have traveled before.

The Scenic Walking Tour: This fun & educational underground tour of Rushmore Cave reveals the beautiful and amazing carvings formed by nature.  Explore subterranean passageways that lead to spectacular stalactite rooms and discover other natural limestone cave formations. An expert guide will lead you on a journey through local history, Rushmore Cave geology and reveal the hidden world that lies beneath us. It’s a total must-do attraction for anyone visiting the Black Hills of South Dakota.

This tour is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour in length. During the summer season, cave tours leave regularly so come at your convenience, no reservations required. (Just know that the last regular cave tour leaves 1 hour before closing.) If you are visiting in the Spring or Fall, please call 605-255-4384 for the current tour schedule.

Xpedition Adventure Tour: If you are an extreme adventure seeker, then the spelunking tour is for you!  Be prepared to get down and dirty as belly crawling will be necessary! These tours are scheduled  daily in June & July (in other months, call 605-255-4384 for availability) Booking in advance is highly recommended.  These are small group tours, space is limited and participants must be at least 12 years old.

This cave is one of the most gorgeous in the United States and this is one of the best tour attractions in the entire Black Hills Region.
