While the campground is amazing all by itself, it has become somewhat famous for its legendary Spook Cave Boat Tour. On a boat ride through Spook Cave, the tour guides tell about the discovery and development of the cave. Formations are also pointed out and described. There is no walking involved, and tours last about 35 minutes. The tour is underground and out of the weather where the temperature is always 47°F.
The Spook Cave Campground is nestled along side Bloody Run Trout Stream, natural beauty surrounds the campground at Spook Cave. There is a spot for all kinds of campers here whether you are looking to rough it in the spacious non hook up tent sites, or want a value-priced water and electric site, or need one of the family-friendly, full hookup sites.
From the store to on-site activities, they have everything to make your stay memorable. The campground is great for family getaways, family reunions or get-togethers with friends. If you enjoy the outdoors, this is the place for you!
If camping isn’t your thing, The Spook Cave Campground also has cabins to rent. In 2022 they introduced their first year-round rental – Bluff View Cabin. Sleeping up to 16 guests, this is the largest cabin with the most amenities. The other nine seasonal cabins are available for rental from May through October. With the campground located just west of McGregor, the area is a hot-bed for outdoor enthusiasts. Pikes Peak State Park is just minutes from the campground and is an excellent place to hike and mountain bike. The park has some of the best views in the Midwest, and also has a popular waterfall/boardwalk trail.
Spook Cave Campgrounds has a wide range of family activities. Some of the highlights include, relaxing/swimming at the beach, fishing, hiking, and don’t forget the cave tours! The campground has several fun events planned for the 2023 season, a Mother’s day craft event, a Father’s Day Bigfoot scavenger hunt, live music in the park, trick or treating, and there big end of season bash with live music, fireworks, a parade, bonfires, trail rides and lots of bacon.
