Head west toward the gently rising foothills of the Rocky Mountains, making the first stop at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Featuring rosy slabs of sandstone that provide naturally awesome acoustics, this stunning open-air music venue is a favorite stop for many national touring acts. Watch the scenery change on the way up Bear Creek Canyon to the lovely little mountain town of Evergreen, the perfect spot to stop for a beer or coffee at a local watering hole (own expense). Continue to gain elevation while following the scenic ‘Lariat Loop’ roadway to the top of Lookout Mountain, which offers stellar views of Denver and the Front Range below. It’s also here that frontier showman Buffalo Bill is buried, with a fun museum near his gravesite commemorating his life and tales of the Wild West.
