The Hawkeyes travel East to College Park Maryland to take on the feared Maryland Terrapins, in what should be one exciting dual meet. The meet takes place Sunday February 2nd at 2 pm. The dual will air on Big Ten Plus. The dual features 15 ranked wrestlers with 4 head to head ranked matches with the Hawkeyes favored in each of them. Three matches really have my attention heading into the meet. 157, 184, and heavyweight have the potential to steal the show, and should be good tests for our Hawkeyes.
Don’t Miss: 157 Should be a fantastic match with this being the only top 10 match in the dual. Miller is riding high after a dominate win over Jason Kraisser, while Teemer is looking to rebound after suffering a tough defeat to Tyler Kasak.
History: Iowa and Maryland are meeting for the seventh time in series history. The Hawkeyes have won each of the previous six meetings. This is the first meeting between the teams since a, 48-0, Iowa win in 2019 in Iowa City.
Keys To Victory: Really this meet is just happening to get the boys some mat time. Only one outcome is possible, and if you’re reading this you already know what that is.
125 Joey Cruz #23 VS Abram Cline
133 Drake Ayala #2 VS Braxton Brown #11
141 Ryder Block #18 VS Dario Lemus
149 Kyle Parco #4 VS Kal Miller #31
157 Jacori Teemer #1 VS Ethen Miller #6
165 Michael Caliendo #2 VS Alex Uryniak
174 Patrick Kennedy #6 VS Branson John
184 Gabe Arnold #5 VS Jaxon Smith #10
197 Steven Buchanan #1 VS Chase Mielnik
285 Ben Kueter #10 VS Seth Nevills #12
Conclusion: This will be a fun one for Iowa fans, and will be a great opportunity for the boys to get back on track after Friday’s setback against Penn State. Iowa wins all 10 bouts with a final score of 37-0.
