The Kelleys Island State Park on the North end of the Island has a fun and exciting bike trail through the woods allowing guests to experience the joy of nature, and the fun of bicycling off road! We stop to see the unique Alvar Preserve and the pebbles beach before we move to an exhilarating 15-20 min ride through this park. We will travel by road to East Quarry approximately 1 mile away to more off road trails and discovery of a completely different yet similar habitat. Kelleys Island State Park offers great Lake Erie views, easy access to the shoreline, and scenic overnight accommodations. Boating, fishing, and wildlife watching are just a few of the park’s favorite activities across its 677 acres. The campground offers camping along the shores of the lake. Nearby, several state nature preserves offer excellent hiking and bird watching opportunities.
No other state park offers visitors a better look at Ohio’s glacial past than Kelleys Island. Evidence of the glaciers, in the form of a large tract of glacial grooves, is available to view, just a short walk from the campground.
