Explore Monument Valley By Horseback On This Epic Adventure

Get on horseback and ride into the Mitten Butes and Sentinal Mesa on this one-hour horseback ride in Monument Valley. This is a small group tour of three max, so you’ll share the costs between you. You’ll even have cowboy hats and helmets provided for you, so you won’t need to bring them, and you’ll complete the horseback rider look. As we set up the horses to assign based on experience, weight, and height. We’ll give you and our horse buddies a proper introduction. After you two get acquainted, we’ll start galloping towards the West Mitten Butte, where you get to be up close. Take pictures of the East Mitten and Merrick buttes at a distance. When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards. If you capture the Merrick Butte at an angle you see that it’s between the West & East Mitten Buttes. All three buttes are commonly seen together in many popular films and images. Its elevation is over 6,200 ft making it one of the tallest buttes in Monument Valley. This trip lasts about an hour and costs $80.00.


Located northwest of The Mittens is the Sentinel Mesa, a mountain with an elevation of over 6,400 ft. The hiking Adventure is meant to be a multiple site introduction and exploration of the Big Sur Coast. We will be hiking and exploring all along the length of Big Sur including various different ecosystems and varying plant communities. A gourmet picnic lunch is provided and we stop to eat in one of numerous picturesque coves on the ocean. None of the hikes are very long (3 miles max) and are considered to be moderate. Explore Canyons and Hike to a Beautiful Desert Oasis near Palm Springs

If you’ve ever imagined what a desert oasis looks like, it probably looks like the ones here in Indian Canyons nature preserve. It’s incredible to see these lush green oases in contrast to the arid desert landscape. The Cahuilla people made these sacred canyons their home for thousands of years & is still part of their land today. It’s always amazing to hear water rushing along the canyon floor & over boulders & birds chirping in the vegetation. Indian Canyons is on the list of the National Register of Historic Places due of it’s cultural significance. Located near the southern boundary of Palm Springs on the eastern side of the San Jacinto Mountains, Indian Canyons has long been recognized as among one of the most significant natural preserves in California’s desert. This trip lasts about 3 hours and costs $66.00.

The hike begins with a visit to Murray Canyon oasis featuring a seasonal steam depending on rainfall amount we’ll cross over the stream several times to checkout the beautiful waterfall in the pics. We’ll then head to Andreas Canyon on a trail that’ll take us up for amazing scenic desert & mountain views overlooking Indian Canyons. When we get to Andreas Canyon we’ll have a look at ancient bedrock mortars where the Cahuilla women prepared food for their family’s, there are also replicas of Kish, which were their hut homes made from palm tree fronds.

 

The water in Andreas Canyon flows year round & is from a perennial mountain spring 5 miles up in the San Jacinto Mountains and features dramatic rock formations. This is a true desert oasis with lots of great photo ops along the way. During the winter season the endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep come down from the mountains to give birth, so if you’re here then hopefully we’ll see some, I’ve seen them here many times before.
